Samuel Chan Trio

爵士鼓手Samuel Chan自早年隨爵士鋼琴家 Ted Lo 啟蒙後，赴紐約著名音樂學院 The Collective School of Music 深造，師隨 Kendrick Scott、Peter Retzlaff 及 Mike Mitchell 等鼓術大師，並曾於紐約與 Theo Hill、Sean Conly 等樂手演出及錄音。返港後，Samuel 迅速成為本地爵士樂場景中最具代表性且極為忙碌的鼓手之一，除了長期與包以正（Eugene Pao）、羅尚正（Ted Lo）、張駿豪（Tedd Hang）等本地大師同台，亦經常獲邀與 Eric Marienthal、Dayna Stephens 及 Laura Fygi 等訪港國際音樂家合作。本次演出，他將領銜 Trio 組合，與年輕鍵琴手 Freeman Lok以及低音大提琴手Nelson Fung帶來一場致敬現代爵士樂巨人 Chick Corea 的特別企劃。

身為 20 世紀後半葉最具影響力的鋼琴家與作曲家之一，Chick Corea 的作品以極具標誌性的拉丁律動（Latin Grooves）、複雜的奇數拍節奏以及典雅而富有現代感的和聲結構著稱。從《Spain》的西班牙狂想色彩到《Armando's Rhumba》的熱情律動，Corea 的樂曲對節奏組的敏銳度與交織默契有著極高的要求。

Drummer Samuel Chan studied under Ted Lo before refining his craft at New York’s Collective School of Music with masters like Kendrick Scott. After performing in New York, he returned to Hong Kong, becoming one of the city's premier drummers—collaborating regularly with local legends Eugene Pao and Ted Lo, alongside visiting stars like Eric Marienthal. For this show, Samuel leads a trio with pianist Freeman Lok and bassist Nelson Fung in a tribute to modern jazz titan Chick Corea.

As one of the late 20th century’s defining pianists and composers, Chick Corea created a catalog celebrated for signature Latin grooves, intricate odd-meter rhythms, and modern harmonic brilliance. From "Spain" to "Armando's Rhumba," his repertoire requires exceptional rhythmic agility and tight collective rapport from the band.
