【Jazz Signature: Rachel Sung Quartet】重返爵士女聲現場錄音的黃金時代

9月13日，香港爵士歌手Rachel Sung將帶領樂迷重返爵士現場錄音的黃金時代。她將與鋼琴手Bowen Li、低音提琴手Nelson Fung和鼓手Samuel Chan組成四重奏，重現如Sarah Vaughan與Ella Fitzgerald在《Live at Mister Kelly's》等傳奇俱樂部錄音中的親密氛圍。

Rachel是一位擁有劍橋大學性別研究碩士學位的傑出歌手，曾共同創立劍橋大學爵士樂協會，並參與WestK自由爵士音樂節等重大演出。她溫暖的嗓音和充滿敘事性的演唱風格，在傳統爵士與巴西音樂領域尤為突出。

本次演出將聚焦搖擺樂標準曲目，以經典現場專輯的即興精神為靈感，包括參考Cécile McLorin Salvant的《Dreams and Daggers》和Esperanza Spalding的《Alive at the Village Vanguard》等當代典範。

On September 13, Hong Kong jazz vocalist Rachel Sung will bring the golden era of live jazz recordings to life at CODA Jazz Kissa. Joined by pianist Bowen Li, bassist Nelson Fung, and drummer Samuel Chan, the quartet will recreate the intimate atmosphere of legendary club recordings like Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald's  Live at Mister Kelly’s.

An accomplished vocalist with a Cambridge MPhil in Gender Studies, Rachel co-founded the Cambridge University Jazz Society and has performed at major events including the WestK Freespace Jazz Festival. Her warm, narrative-driven approach to singing shines in traditional jazz and Brazilian repertoire.

The performance will focus on swing standards performed with the spontaneity and energy of classic live albums, taking inspiration from modern references like Cécile McLorin Salvant's Dreams and Daggers and Esperanza Spalding's Alive at the Village Vanguard. The quartet aims to capture the raw magic of those historic nights when jazz legends created unforgettable musical moments in intimate club settings.
