【Jazz Signature: Patrick Lui Trio】

屢獲殊榮的鋼琴家Patrick Lui，即將與鼓手Steve Cheung（波子）及低音結他手Nelson Fung組成三重奏，呈獻一場以現代爵士（Modern Jazz）為主軸的音樂會。

曾獲Marvin Hamlisch國際音樂獎（爵士作曲）的Patrick，他與樂隊RubberBand合作的監製作品亦屢獲殊榮，包括叱咤樂壇頒獎禮「至尊唱片大獎」及「我最喜愛的歌曲大獎」。2020年推出的首張大樂隊專輯《Sonder》於紐約錄製，由兩屆格林美獎得主Mike Marciano操刀，並由Sony Music發行。

過去Patrick的演出多集中於傳統爵士標準曲（Straight Ahead Jazz），展現紮實的咆勃(Bebop) 根基。是次演出他將夥拍兩位風格不同的節奏組樂手，探索較為現代的爵士聲響。低音結他手Nelson Fung是本地資深樂手，多年來活躍於爵士圈，為節奏組提供穩固的低音線條。

鼓手Steve Cheung（波子）的加入，為這次的三重奏帶來新的音樂方向。波子擅長融合現代 fusion 與爵士的鼓擊風格，深受Dave Weckl等鼓手影響。他多年來擔任多位流行歌手演唱會鼓手，包括張敬軒、Big Four等，並在ViuTV節目《擊戰》中擔任鼓手導師，具備紮實的技術與豐富的舞台經驗。

這次的三重奏組合，將演奏一系列現代爵士作品，包括Herbie Hancock與Chick Corea的作品，以及對經典標準曲的現代詮釋。

Award-winning pianist Patrick Lui will join forces with drummer Steve Cheung and bassist Nelson Fung to present a concert centered on modern jazz in a trio setting.

A recipient of the Marvin Hamlisch International Music Award (Jazz Composition), his production work with the band RubberBand has also garnered multiple accolades, including the “Album of the Year” and “My Favourite Song” awards at the Ultimate Song Chart Awards Presentation. His debut big band album “Sonder” (2020) was recorded in New York, engineered by two-time Grammy Award winner Mike Marciano, and released under Sony Music.

In the past, Patrick’s performances have focused mainly on straight-ahead jazz standards, showcasing his solid bebop foundations. For this concert, he teams up with two rhythm-section players of distinct styles to explore a more modern jazz sound. Bassist Nelson Fung is a seasoned local musician who has long been active in jazz scenes, providing a firm and reliable low-end anchor for the trio.

The addition of drummer Steve Cheung brings a fresh musical direction to this ensemble. Drawing strong influence from drummers such as Dave Weckl, Steve excels at fusing modern fusion and jazz drumming concepts. Over the years, he has served as concert drummer for many major pop artists, including Hins Cheung and Big Four, and has appeared as a drum coach on ViuTV’s program “Battle of the Thone”, building a reputation for both technical mastery and extensive stage experience. 

This trio will perform a selection of modern jazz works, including pieces by Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea, as well as modern reinterpretations of classic jazz standards.
