【Jazz Signature: Jonas Cho Trio】 香港其中最優秀的年輕爵士樂手

近年十分高興看到越來越多年輕且十分優秀的爵士樂手於香港冒起，有的從外國回流，有的從本地默默耕耘後冒起。當中便包括今天的三位樂手：Jonas Cho, Vincent Choy與Nelson Fung。

Jonas，於2024畢業於美國伯克利音樂學院，主修爵士演奏和電影配樂雙學位。Vincent，亦於2024年畢業於西澳表演藝術學院畢業，期間榮獲Jazz Honours Award。

而Nelson Fung，畢業後一直在本地樂圈默默耕耘，成為香港不可或缺的貝司手。同時亦與多個音樂單位合作，包括黃衍仁，麥浚龍，藍奕邦，岑寧兒，AGA，Olivier Cong等人。他亦是爵士團體翻騰三周半的發起人之一。

2月1日星期六，他們將會帶來風格現代的爵士樂 (Modern Jazz)，當中包括Kenny Garrett, Ben Wendel, Owl Trio與Immanuel Wilkins的作品。同時，他們亦會演繹自己的原創作品。

這是此三人組合的首個演出，十分值得期待！

In recent years, it has been very encouraging to observe a growing number of young and exceptionally talented jazz musicians emerging in Hong Kong. This trend includes individuals returning from international studies as well as those who have developed their craft locally. Among these musicians are Jonas Cho, Vincent Choy, and Nelson Fung.

Jonas graduated in 2024 from Berklee College of Music in the United States, where he pursued dual degrees in jazz performance and film scoring. Vincent also graduated in 2024 from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts with the Jazz Honours Award. 

Meanwhile, Nelson Fung has been making significant contributions to the local music scene since his graduation, establishing himself as an essential bassist in Hong Kong. He has collaborated with a variety of notable artists and ensembles, including Wong Hin Yan, Juno Mak, Pong Nan, Yoyo Sham, AGA, and Olivier Cong, among others. He is also the the co-founder of jazz group Fountain de Chopin.

On Saturday, February 1st, they will present a modern jazz performance featuring works by Kenny Garrett, Ben Wendel, Owl Trio, and Immanuel Wilkins. Additionally, they will showcase their original compositions.

This will be the trio's inaugural performance, and it promises to be an event worth anticipating!
