【Jazz Signature: Jerry Kan Trio】令人興奮的香港新銳爵士鼓手

簡上言（Jerry Kan）為香港新銳爵士鼓手，自幼接受古典音樂訓練，曾於管弦樂團及弦樂合奏中展現音樂敏銳度。

因接觸爵士樂的即興精神，激發了他對當代節奏的熱情與創作。他曾參與「自由爵士音樂節2024」、「SF Jazz Collective大師班」，「TOPP Quartet大師班」、「Rangsit University Thailand Jazz Workshop」，並入選2025 Siena Jazz International Summer Workshop。

自2023年起，簡上言活躍於香港爵士界，經常擔任各樂隊的鼓手。他亦常與不同外地樂手於本地爵士場地同台演出，並曾於廣州JZ Club進行演出。他對即興創作的熱情為他帶來許多創新的嘗試，於不同舞台帶來充滿實驗性的聲音探索。

今次演出，他將攜同本地優秀樂手Jonas Cho (Sax) 以及 Nelson Fung (Double Bass) 演出。第一節他們將會演出經典的爵士標準曲，第二節則會以無樂譜，完全即興的方式演奏，將當晚獨有的氣氛與觸覺用音樂呈現。

Emerging drummer Jerry Kan represents the new vanguard of Hong Kong's jazz scene—a musician whose classical training and orchestral background inform a distinctly contemporary approach to rhythm and improvisation.

Jerry's journey from classical ensembles to jazz's spontaneous language reveals an artist deeply engaged with musical evolution. His credentials read like a roadmap of artistic development: appearances at the 2024 Freespace Jazz Festival, intensive studies at the SF Jazz Collective Masterclass, the TOPP Quartet Masterclass, and the Rangsit University Thailand Jazz Workshop, culminating in his selection for the prestigious 2025 Siena Jazz International Summer Workshop.

Since 2023, Jerry has become an indispensable presence in Hong Kong's jazz ecosystem, anchoring various ensembles while building cross-cultural connections through performances with international musicians at local venues and Guangzhou's JZ Club. His commitment to spontaneous creation has led to increasingly sophisticated explorations, positioning him at the forefront of experimental sound research.

For his upcoming CODA performance, Jerry assembles an exceptional trio featuring Jonas Cho on saxophone and Nelson Fung on double bass. The program unfolds in two conceptual movements: the first set presents classic jazz standards reimagined through Jerry's rhythmic lens, while the second ventures into uncharted territory with completely improvised, score-free performance—transforming the evening's unique atmosphere into pure musical expression.
