結他手Eugene Pao的名字在香港爵士樂的脈絡中，無疑代表著一個時代的開端與一座難以跨越的里程碑。超過三十五年來，他不僅是本地最廣為人知的爵士音樂家，更是將香港爵士帶上國際舞台的關鍵推手。

從早年與低音提琴傳奇Eddie Gomez、薩克斯風巨匠Michael Brecker等人的經典錄音，到持續於紐約林肯中心、倫敦皇家亞伯特音樂廳等世界級場館的演出，他的音樂生涯本身就是一部濃縮的香港爵士發展史。

二月份在CODA舉行的音樂會，Eugene將與90後鋼琴手Bowen Li以二重奏形式合作。Bowen活躍於爵士、流行及劇場等多領域，合作單位包括香港舞蹈團，林家謙等，演出足跡遍佈北京，上海，廣州等地，同時為本地爵士場館CODA與Fountain的共同創辦人。2025年，Bowen Li Trio亦推出首張專輯 “Unemployed”，並於北京與上海Blue Note巡迴演出。

演出的核心曲目，將聚焦於Eugene音樂生涯中一張極受樂迷愛戴的專輯——2001年與丹麥傳奇低音提琴手Mads Vinding三重奏在歐洲錄製的《Pao》。敬請期待！

Guitarist Eugene Pao's name undoubtedly represents the dawn of an era and an insurmountable milestone within Hong Kong's jazz landscape. For over thirty-five years, he has not only been the city's most widely recognized jazz musician but also a pivotal force in elevating Hong Kong jazz onto the international stage.

From his early classic recordings with double bass legend Eddie Gomez and saxophone maestro Michael Brecker, to his ongoing performances at world-class venues like New York's Lincoln Center and London's Royal Albert Hall, his musical journey itself encapsulates the condensed history of Hong Kong jazz.

For February's concert at CODA, Eugene will perform in a duo with post-90s pianist Bowen Li. Bowen is active across jazz, pop, and theater, collaborating with the Hong Kong Dance Company, Lam Ka Him, and others. His performances span Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and beyond. He is also co-founder of local jazz venues CODA and Fountain. In 2025, the Bowen Li Trio released their debut album “Unemployed,” touring Beijing and Shanghai's Blue Note venues.

The core repertoire of this performance will center on a beloved album from Eugene's musical career—Pao, recorded in Europe in 2001 with the legendary Danish double bassist Mads Vinding. Stay tuned!
