【Jazz Signature: Alex Ho x Eric Chong】 深入研究爵士的兩位樂手的音樂對話

現居倫敦的爵士鋼琴手Alex Ho，活躍於London多個重要場地、國際音樂節及電台節目，包括BBC Radio 3 In Tune、Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club、Southbank Centre、PizzaExpress Jazz Club Soho、EFG London Jazz Festival、Manchester Jazz Festival。恆常合作樂手包括Gary Crosby OBE, Steve Williamson等人。Alex亦聯同香港頂尖低音大提琴手Tsang Tak Hong及紐約鼓手Ian Chang展開錄音企劃《Trio Soundscapism》，專輯於2016年由廠牌Vantage Music發行。

而Eric Chong亦是香港出色的爵士結他手及作曲家，曾參與爵士音樂節包括Ubud Village Jazz Festival，Ljubljana Jazz Festival，及自由爵士音樂節等。演出足跡遍佈荷蘭、印尼、斯洛文尼亞、韓國及中國大陸等地。2020年，他以全額獎學金於Prins Claus Conservatorium完成他的爵士演奏學位，過往亦曾獲得上海JZ爵士大賽的第一名。

兩位都是對爵士樂認識很深的樂手，難得有一次能靜下來，仔細聆聽著對方的音樂對話。當晚將以十分即興且流動的方式演繹爵士經典曲目，特別會演奏著名鋼琴及作曲家Thelonious Monk的作品。

Alex Ho, a jazz pianist currently based in London, is a frequent performer at major venues, international festivals, and radio programs across the city, including BBC Radio 3 In Tune, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Southbank Centre, PizzaExpress Jazz Club Soho, EFG London Jazz Festival, and Manchester Jazz Festival. His regular collaborators include luminaries like Gary Crosby OBE and Steve Williamson. Alex also launched the recording project 《Trio Soundscapism》 with Hong Kong’s premier double bassist Tsang Tak Hong and New York drummer Ian Chang, releasing the album in 2016 under the Vantage Music label.

Eric Chong, an exceptional Hong Kong jazz guitarist and composer, has performed at festivals such as the Ubud Village Jazz Festival, Ljubljana Jazz Festival, and Free Jazz Festival, with stages spanning the Netherlands, Indonesia, Slovenia, South Korea, and mainland China. In 2020, he completed his jazz performance degree at the Prins Claus Conservatorium on a full scholarship, having previously claimed first prize at the Shanghai JZ Jazz Competition. 

Both musicians bring profound jazz expertise to the stage, offering a rare opportunity to witness their intimate musical dialogue. The evening will feature fluid, improvisational interpretations of jazz classics, with a special focus on works by legendary pianist and composer Thelonious Monk.
